The Vestry has completed studying the book Called to be Church: The Book of Acts for a New Day by Anthony Robinson and Robert Wall. Called to be Church views the challenges facing the church through the lens of the book of The Acts of the Apostles, delving into what we know about the early church and what we can learn from it today. Each chapter focuses on a different portion of the book of Acts, first examining it as scripture and then offering application to our current situation in this post-modern, post-Christendom era. Noting that our current secular culture displays a persistent interest in spirituality, the authors focus on the unique challenges and opportunities that present themselves to Christian communities of faith.

In 2009, the Vestry read and discussed Anthony Robinson's Changing the Conversation that outlined the end of the Christendom era. The question raised is how we move forward in the post Christendom era in the 21st century.

Monday Lunch & Book Study Group meets weekly from Noon-1:00 p.m. in Willard Hall to explore and discuss books with a focus on aspects of Christian spirituality. We are just starting to read a book, entitled, ”The Way of the Heart”, by Henri J. M. Nouwen.  “In these more sound-polluted and frenetic years, Henri Nouwen’s simple words about the prayer of the heart will be helpful for all who seek to turn from complex wiles of the world to the simplicity of the love of God.” (quote by Madeleine L’Engle from back cover.) Speak to the Rector if you want more information & please do come join us.
