chance to find out in an engaging presentation by a well-known, approachable, and amusing
expert.
On Tuesday September 15, 2:00-3:30 PM, in Willard Hall - behind and below gray St. Luke's
Church at 313 Main Street, Chester, VT - Malcolm Summers, a local professional bookbinder for
25 years who was trained in England and is a co-owner of the Chester Bookworm, will explain
the bookbinding and restoration process and its tools. He’ll show samples of different kinds of
binding materials, and pass around old tools still in use, as well as various books and
mementoes that have been preserved, sometimes most ingeniously. He has interesting stories
to tell about the preservation of both new and ancient treasures and will answer questions
after his presentation. Those who appreciate books, antiques, and history are especially
encouraged to attend this free program.
